In 1836 the new building of the Bolshoi theatre has been built up, in it executed only opera performances, there was a branch of opera troupe from the drama. In 1836 M.I.Glinka's opera ' Ivan Susanin ', in 1842 - ' Ruslan and Lyudmila ' here has been put. Later opera performances were put at the Petersburg theatre-circus. After a fire of 1859 this theatre has been built up again and has received the name Mariinsky. The history of this theatre is very narrowly connected with history of Russian opera and a ballet art. Theatrics development in Petersburg as a whole has played the big role in development of theatrical business in Russia.
